... I'm assuming the #s you showed were your different casts? You had an 80% success rate in not splashing... how does that suck exactly? As for the hit popping up, that's called RNG.

A year ago it used to hit 30s all the time regardless of some mage defence. Now it seems balanced although it might need the slightest buff.

This basically. Defence doesn't have any impact on how much damage you inflict, that's all luck.
