Kolodion has a new challenge for those skilled in magic. Take on a number of waves, and if successful, be rewarded with a new cape! Today also introduces platinum tokens and extremely expensive partyhats. Get a cat as a pet, take on the Corporeal Beast during boss slayer, and more!
Mage Arena 2
Kolodion has a new challenge for those skilled in magic. You will be put through 32 waves, against an assortment of monsters that have been given the ability to use more than just magic while inside the arena. To help you, you will frequently be given boosts to damage, a zapper that will use multi-target attacks against your enimies, and occassionally a surge that destroys all monsters in the arena. Super magic potions and damage absorption potions can also be randomly dropped around the map, so keep an eye out and use them wisely!
If you are lucky to make it to the last wave, you will have to take on three demons: light, balance, and darkness. Protect from magic will help, but it will only negate half of their damage. They are also unique in that they can only be damaged by their matching god spell, which still requires the appropriate staff to cast.
Completion of the minigame will reward you with all three imbued god capes. These capes give +15 to magic accuracy and defence, +3 to melee defence, and a 2% damage bonus. While yet to be decided, an option to skip to the final wave for one cape once you've completed the minigame at least once may be added. Like the tzHaar minigames, an option to skip a number of the waves will be added later on for normal mode (possibly limited to Gold Members due to the low number of total waves).
Platinum Tokens and Partyhats
You can exchange 1,000 coins for a platinum token by travelling to the Duel Arena and speaking to the wise old man. Please note that he will charge a 5% fee for exchanging tokens back into coins, meaning you will only get 950 coins for every token. The wise old man will also sell partyhats for platinum tokens. The prices are based heavily off of the official Runescape prices: purple: 6M tokens, yellow: 6.5M tokens, green: 7M tokens, red: 8M tokens, white: 11M tokens, blue: 15M tokens.
Bosses and Slayer
For 200 boss slayer points, the Corporeal Beast can now be unlocked as a potential task. The scroll will not be consumed, so you can use the scroll the swap between it being enabled or disabled. Grotesque Guardians have also been added into boss slayer, so if you have them unlocked through the brittle key, you may get them as a task.
Archaeologists' special attacks can no longer be blocked by overhead prayer, so make sure to dodge the attack. To help with this, the speed of the special attack has been slowed down. The time remaining for your boss instance along with what boss it currently exists at can now be tracked through the quest tab. Clicking the text will also give you an option to cancel your instance early, which will allow you to create a new instance somewhere else.
Cats
Pet cats have been added to BattleScape! You can now get different fuzzy critters (and some not so much) through a few different methods. Probita will sell regular cats at a cost of 10M coins. Those involved in the wilderness will be able to purchase the hellcat for 200K blood money. For 150 vote tickets, you can purchase a clockwork cat from Lanthus.
